passionate about Siamese Cats . . . and Ska Music
We
care very
deeply about the welfare of our animals and the environment
We use exclusively compostable litters - Pine and Cedar. We
are
also avid cycling enthusiasts.
Our cats bring us tremendous joy.
We take great pleasure in seeing the
happiness our kittens bring to others.
WE
ALSO
MARCHING BANDS

We
are committed to preserving the
original characteristics of the breed. The Traditional Siamese is an
intelligent and affectionate, long lived cat - often living into their
teens and
twenties. There
is nothing extreme about the
Traditional Siamese, they are long elegant and muscular.
Their head show what was called a "modified wedge" shape
(That's
breed standard lingo to say more like a triangle than a common
British Domestic Short Hair or say a
Persian. . . .
Their heads aren't really apple shaped as the
American colloquial "Apple head" implies, but they do seem
round
compared to the
very extreme cats that began to develop during the later part of the
twentieth century.

Breed Clubs have come to recognize these and other Oriental type
cats
as separate breeds unto themselves. The word Siamese now
refers to a "Breed Group" in some organizations, including the
Traditional Siamese (mother to all Siamese
cats) but also the new "Modern Siamese/ Extreme Wedge", Snowshoe
Siamese, Color Point Siamese and Oriental breeds. and showing many
different point colors including flame point and lynx point cats.
The word Siamese brought about some confusion as it's meaning changed
from one breed of cat to a breed group including many recognized breeds
of Siamese type cats. Just as there are different types of
Retrievers -
Labrador Retrievers are very different from Newfoundland Retrievers or
Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, yet they are all "Retrievers".
Various breed clubs each developed thier own interpretation of the
Siamese standard describing thier "ideal" Siamese. Differences
between these ideals are substantial and not all breed clubs will
recognise Siamese bred to different standard. For example, the
ACA recognises only the four original colours : Seal, Blue, Chocolate
and Lilac, and will not register a Lynx, Tortie or Cream Point Siamese.
How these types of Siamese are classified differs somewhat between
breed
clubs
but refers to cats originating from the Traditional Siamese - the
long, robust, pointed
cats with *moderately* wedge shaped heads, imported to England from
Thailand - the region formally known as Siam.

There
are times when breeders may need to seek out cats of either
a more "classic/modern" or "traditional/historic" look to balance the
results in
their
lines, Siamese and Balinese cats should never appear "extreme" in
any way - neither emaciated or bat eared as the extreme wedge cats
sometimes do nor
cobby.

We
are expressly concerned with
providing cats of a high quality of health and character. We
are very concerned when any breeder compromises health or temperament
to breed to a specific
look or type.
We do not support designer breeds - breeds
which cannot survive without a high degree of
human
intervention, when we hear of
dogs or cats with congenital eye problems, that deliver only
by cesarean
or
breeds which have other predominant health or behavioral problems
we
are very concerned.
We
do not breed kink tails or cross
eyes, and we regard declawing procedures as cruel
and
inhumane.
We ask all new families to sign an agreement promising they will never
declaw thier kitten. The only cercumstance this may be
acceptable is if recommended by a vet for the health and welfare
of the cat or kitten - in such an event we recommend seeking a second
opinion, removing possible hazzards such as unsafe carpeting, and as a
very last resort, to pursue the modern laser procedure which
desensitizes the nerve in the toe, leaving claws intact and does not
require the severing of the toes. We
warn that declawing may contribute to long term nerve damage, and
behavioural problems and will not gaurantee the health or behaviour of
any cat or kitten subject to these procedures. We are not
concerned with furniture or carpeting - and expect that adequate
scratching posts, toys and natural deversions will be made available to
your kitten. We do offer support and suggestions on occasion that
challenges arise - however when leather couches or other objects are
placed before family members (we consider our kittens family members)
we would prefer to assist in the rehoming of the kitten as such
sentament demonstrates a lack of commitment that we would expect of any
pet owner.
We
consider the Traditional Siamese to
be the most stable, and long lived of all Siamese breed types
(just my well researched but highly biased opinion). These
principles
have been the guiding ethic for 2Tone Siamese.
We
do not:
breed cross eyes or kink tails,
we do not participate in cat shows & we do not declaw our cats

We do not show our cats. Traveling
and exhibiting is extremely stressful for cats. They are exposed to
many different pathogens and stressors while being handled and
transported during cat shows. We do not believe that placing
well
in a cat show will guarantee health or temperament. We
believe that breeders who are concerned with the health and
preservation of the breed are most qualified to interpret the breed
standards produced by their supporting breed clubs and organizations.
Though we respect the dedication of such breeders and value the
contribution made by cat shows, we also know that our cats are happier
at home with their families than traveling
and exhibiting. Their happiness is important to us - more important
than ribbons and
recognition. We are most interested in seeing the happiness that
our kittens bring to others. If you are interested
in
showing
your Traditional Siamese kitten let us know so that we can help to best
meet your needs.
